Directory Assistance

Been spending the morning adding NLPRS to various paranormal related directories.  This does absolutely nothing for this endeavor, but it at least gets name recognition out there, in addition to us gaining hits on internet searches.  I did note that on some of the sites, I would say a great deal of the Wisconsin groups have been disbanded, roughly 75-80% of them.

I should probably also mention that, of all the directories I visited, there are no groups with a name similar to this one.  I should probably mention that yesterday I was worried about the group from Minnesota, even though they have been disbanded for over a year...  they don't appear on any directory, including those that have the 75% inactive rate.

I've also been tweaking our header a bit; trimmed the margins and ran it through Microsoft Word to add the lettering.  The photograph itself is eye catching, while everything else is simple and straight to the point.  Perhaps with a bit more adjusting, I can trim this to be used as a signature for other forums / sites.

Now then, along with this site, I've also created a Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/NLPRS ), an email account ( nlprs.wi@gmail.com ), and a blog ( http://nlprs.blogspot.com ).  Whereas this site will be primarily used by NLPRS members and others for exchanging information or just to learn, I figure the FB page will be mainly for advertising (since everything has a FB account), while the blog will be up for... well, quite frankly I don't know why.  I set it up before thinking about making this site; maybe it should be up as a combination of an advertising site and a news group?  I don't know.

Well then, that's that for now.

Steps in the Right Direction

During the past few days, I've been busy emailing various directories and networking sites to get this organization listed, and as of yesterday, that has begun to see fruition. Last night, in my desire to take this one step at a time, thought it would be prudent to place an ad with the local papers.

I would like to say that I received a response from one of the papers. Along with the usual price quotes (words per line, prices per line, days run), I received an interesting comment: "By the way, your organization sounds fascinating!"

I've always been a firm believer in any type of attention is good. But with this, interest from a newspaper itself? Granted, it very well may have come from the person I was in contact with (personal interest?), but it is something. Something that will perhaps stick in that person's mind... leading to an interview? or perhaps, more humbly, word of mouth?
