You can't always be in different places at the same time, nor can you remain at the same time for an extended period of time.  Likewise, there are things that you might not be able to see, but when played back on a television or computer monitor certain things might stand out.

That is why I have taken to ordering four web cams, pictured below with the specifications detailed afterwards.

Web Cam, generic 17089-10

5.0 Megapixel
Lens types CMOS
Lens 5 million pixels
Lens 640 x 480 resolution
Maximum frame number 30 frames
Color digits 24 bits
Lens high precision glass lens
Support system Windows XP/Vista
Plug and play support from driving to use
USB 2.0 interface type
Support and the static and dynamic image capture; Support the dynamic real-time transmission remote video; Automatic color, the color reduction, color of skin compensation adjustment function
Size:6x4x6cm

I have order four of these devices, along with a couple 50 foot USB extension cables with repeaters.  Oh, I should point out that yes, I did order these cameras in green.  They also come in red and blue, and I think black, for those who are interested.

The nice thing about this is that you are not dependent on power.  No need to worry about the power cutting out, of asking the site owner if you can use his electricity, or even if the remote site has access to electricity!

And, in keeping with my desire to acquire things only if I can use them for different things, this set-up makes for a great security surveillance system, at a fraction of the cost.  Each camera, with shipping, costs just under $5, with a 50 foot USB cord with repeater coming in at just over $13.
