| Here's something you don't normally see on a forum, let alone one dedicated to the paranormal: scat identification. Why not? An animal is an animal, cryptid or not. And, as a biological entity, there are some basic functions that all animals share, defecation not withstanding. If you are going to go through the woods in an attempt to discover one of these elusive creatures, one of the things you may stumble across is scat. Wouldn't it be nice to find out if it's from a known animal or not? In identifying scat, you'll want to take a good clear picture, showing as much detail as possible. In the picture, you will also want an identifying marker to represent size: a ruler or coin would be ideal. If you plan on taking a sample, please note that you will want to take precautions: gloves, dust mask (optional), ziplock bag, a scoop of some type. Here then is a list of various scat themed websites, to assist the investigator. This sites are geared towards the north woods area. As always, I'm only posting three links. This way, you get a nicer variety. http://www.northwoodsguides.com/animal_scat_notes.htmhttp://www.summitpost.org/scat-identification/276861http://www.bear-tracker.com/animalscat.html | |
