Subject: Lightning Strike Wed Jul 10 2013, 11:04
The following pictures were taken on my way to work this morning. Now I fully believe these to have been caused by a lightning strike, as we had a thunderstorm move through the area the evening prior (July 9, 2012). The interesting thing about this is that there were two fields, separated by a road (that also bisected the county road). I parked on that off road and took these photographs; the first two are from the left side of the road, the second from the right side of the road.
It's easy to see how people may mistaken these as crop circles. After all, there is an intricate pattern (would have loved to have seen these from the air); no discernible tracks leading to the markings; and the stalks are gently folded over (not broken), layered within each other.
