Milwaukee Paranormal Convention

Hosted by author Tea Krulos, this event will have many key speakers on a range of paranormal situations, from Bigfoot to UFOs, and yes, to ghosts.

The Convention starts at noon and wraps up at 7p. I'll be attending, though it is unknown if any addition team members will be with at this time.

MPC Report

I arrived at the Milwaukee Paranormal Convention site at roughly 12p with team member Wendy; members Steven and Raven were unable to attend due to previous commitments.

The first presentation was Milwaukee Forteana, by Allison Jornlin.  This segment gave some historic cases of the unusual within the Milwaukee area, and was a good launching point for the rest of the afternoon.  Allison is the founder of Milwaukee Ghosts - Tours and Investigations.

After that discussion, the rest of the conference was divided between two levels, so that attendants could participate in a discussion that best interested them.

The discussion Wendy and I attended next was High Strangeness in Wisconsin: Odd UFO Encounters in the Cheese State , as presented by MUFON investigator Mark O'Connell.

Next was The Challenges Involved in Collecting Sasquatch Evidence by BFRO representative and investigator Jim Sherman.  I've had email exchanges with Jim in the past, so it was nice to be able to put a voice and face behind the words.  For me, Jim's persona and professionalism changed the way I had been viewing BFRO as a whole; though I may disagree with some of the things they do, if they're able to attract and keep people like Jim, who knows.

With the next presentation, I was torn between listening in on Satyrs in America or Explanations for Common Reports of Paranormal Activity; we sat in the second choice, hosted by Noah Leigh, founder of Paranormal Investigators of Milwaukee.

After this presentation, the two available choices really didn't interest me so much, so I took the time to check out the vendor booths and grabbed a bite to eat at Taco Bell (located right across the street).

Wendy departed at about 5p.  At this point, I sat in the discussion entitled American Monsters and Monsters of Wisconsin, presented by author Linda S Godfrey; after this presentation, I too left the convention, which only had about an hour left.

...

Overall, I had a positive impression of the convention.  For me, the biggest positive was seeing how many people believe and group anything that is unusual or unexplained as paranormal.  Since the inception of NLPRS, I have always believed this, had have tried to incorporate these different aspects.  There are those out there that believe that a group should focus on one side or the other, or investigate a specific type of activity, but why?

The vendor booth section of the convention was a bit cramped, but there was ample enough time between discussions to check things out and to meet or talk to people.

Lastly, it seems that this will become an annual event, with the next to be held at some point in October 2016 (details have yet to be finalized).
